The Current Situation

Day 4 of the Blog-a-Thon

Day 2 of #getitout

The Current Situation:

So here I am again, one side filled with stones. We knew they wouldn’t stay clean, but I was really hoping for a longer time in between.

I‘ve been passing stones again, and it’s sucking the life out of me. Remember the “I can’t do that” declaration? I can’t / won’t just take pain meds and be zoned out.  After evaluation, the doctor and I have decided that a repeat of the previous procedure is necessary.medication

I will be undergoing this procedure on Dec 30. I’m sharing this not for sympathy, but for growth. Talking about pain is not easy for me. I am one of the best at faking not being in pain, but this is the true reason I am doing the blog-a-thon.

I will be chronicling my journey to prepare for and undergo this event.  I have several friends who, like me, don’t discuss their health. It’s almost taboo. I also have friends that turned to social media in times of pain and distress. I am attempting to explore the latter.

Please connect

So do you get kidney stones? Are you a doctor or nurse or somehow in the medical field? Have you used social media to find support? I want to talk to you. Tweet me, Facebook me, or just comment here.  (If sending an e-mail or fb request please tell me who you are.)

Don’t forget to follow the other bloggers in the blog-a-thon, and let me know if you want to join us, I will add you to the list!

I had these regularly for about 10 years. The first and last ones were the worst. The last took 2 weeks to pass. I was drugged up so long that I started feeling really awful. I’m not a happy person when my heads not right and by the end of that it was really not right.

The first one I had no idea what was wrong with me – just thought maybe I was about to die. The pain is beyond horrible – the only worst I can ever remember was a bad burn I got many years ago. But not knowing what is wrong sets your mind in all sorts of bad directions. The pain in your mind is certainly the worst. I don’t know if fear can kill but I wouldn’t be surprised. One of my daughters had open-heart surgery a couple of years ago. That mental pain while I waited was worse than any physical pain I’ve ever had.

Be happy that you know what’s wrong and other than being painful it’s reasonably harmless. You will get through it. Someone said (I’m not that good with quotes) whatever doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.

Wow – I wrote that before I read your other posts. Sounds like you have something much worse than my 10 years of occasional misery. My best wishes for a successful outcome that lasts longer.

Pain (physical anyway) IS something that you can push aside with practice (at least I can.) I hope you are able to as well.

Dana,
Not sure what you have looked at in the area of nutrition and correlation but it is important. Certain foods, even supplements can cause and aggrevate the conditions. Many folks do not understand and tend to underestimate the toxicity of conventional food and the power of whole, clean foods. I’ve seen nutrition heal uncurable forms of cancer. If you provide me with a 2-3 day average food and beverage intake, I can give you some insight and suggestions. Signed..your new blogging buddy!

Thank you Bonnie my new “blogging buddy” I am not good a tracking food, but I will give it a whirl. The problem I run into is such conflicting info. Don’t eat this, on one dr. page and the opposite on another. The MSK makes you not deal with oxalates well. But looking at a low oxalate diet looks like a get fat diet. So many really good and healthy foods on the list: Wheat, walnuts, tahini, sweet potatoes, spinach, soybeans, and so many other really good foods.

Yes I remember the thoughts that went through my head with the 1st one. Now that I know what they are and what little they can do to help with the “passable” ones, I am good at keeping a good mindset. I try to go on doing things. But there are times they really get me down.

Thank you for sharing and for your support!
